Hi Brenda,

I am glad you are cautious about too much weight. I am also glad you are seeing results.  How does it feel knowing all your hard work is paying off?

I guess I'm not as diligent the first week or two of each month, because the last two months I've struggled to lose weight during those times. Again, the weight is now coming off. I lost a little too much last week, but that was because I cut calories even more. I lost 5 1/2 pounds, and maybe now the weight lifting is beginning to pay off in terms of calorie burning.

Hi Josie and Juicy. Josie, the forums and the toolbox helps me the most. Just getting the feedback and ring what others a doing helps. Updating results in the toolbox strokes my ego.

Juicy, those 5s add up.  I drop a pound here, two there, three very once in a while. Month by month the pounds are subtracting down. My doctor told me not to go below 140-150 pounds, because of the weight lifting. I read that lifting weights is the single most important thing one can do to keep weight off, because muscle burns calories (60 per hour) even while at rest. That’s why men can eat more and burn more calories.  I’ll always weight lift. As a matter of fact, I’ll commit to spend at least 5-7 hours a week doing various forms of exercises for the rest of my life. (The Y ca be inexpensive  and worth every penny of the full pice of membership.) One woman who works out at the gym is 83. Aerobics, conditioning, and flexibility are important, too.

haha! Excellent health, right now. I still have to do a pulmonary function test, August 5th, but all of my other tests came back with excellent results. Blood Pressure 104/59; pulse, 64; A1C blood sugar (3 month average), 5.3 (below 5.9 is normal); LDL, a mere 101; HDL, an excellent 48 (menopausal). Weight loss, 30 pounds.

I struggled with weight loss earlier in the month. I plateaued and then around the third week I started to see significant drops again, probably because I’m undergoing physiologic changes because of the weight lifting. This month, so far, I am down about 7.5 pounds. I’ll see what I weigh at the end of the month. I won’t hit 10 lbs this month, though.

Hi Brenda,

Oh how marvellous! Happy B-day to YOU! I hope you have a great birthday! As Jason mentioned, definitely not a bad idea to treat yourself! But yes beware of going on an empty stomach, that can be dangerous!

Let me know what else you are doing to celebrate the big day!

Only down 1.3 pounds this week. This week will be rough. My belly-button birthday is tomorrow and normally I celebrate by going out to eat. I may go to McDonald’s and get a low-fat ice cream cone and that’s all.

Hi bumblebee, yes, I know what you mean. I am definitely heavier at night than in the morning, for obvious reasons.

Hey Brenda,

I definitely think weighing yourself too often can leave you scratching your head! It has for me anyway! I weight myself about once or twice a week, sometimes less, sometimes more....Otherwise I get really frustrated, it seems i fluctuate throughout the day quite a bit! Just me experience though...

The weight loss often shows up late. I think I weigh myself too often in a week. This morning I was down 2.2 pounds from yesterday and last weight. I need to ask the doctor about lag time--the time between eating the food and seeing any weight gain or loss. Mine seems to be as long as 4-5 days.
